eUttar Pradesh Summit, 29-30 Nov 2013, Lucknow

About Conference

This Summit shall aim at active knowledge sharing, showcasing of existing governance, Education, Health, and IT initiatives in the state, deliberate on the way forward, and seek to provide a platform to exchange ideas and promote capacity building. Technology has for long remained the driving force in the urban areas of India. However, the digital divide has been a persistent problem that not only exists between countries, but also within a country. Lack of adequate awareness and limited knowledge has resulted in the creation of pockets of ICT knowledge hubs, restricted to the urban metros. Our endeavors have consistently been focused on making ICTs more valuable and have delved deeper into finding out ways and means on how ICTs can have an enriching and socially relevant role in society. Our mandate is to solidify the national efforts of entrenching the constructive use of ICTs across domains. Taking the agenda forward, the eUttar Pradesh summit is one step towards this endeavor. The basic purpose of the event is to highlight the landmark e-Governance initiatives that have been launched in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The event will also serve as a vehicle for promoting the IT industry in the state.

Objective

By the virtue of being the enablers of e-Governance, the Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) serve as tools in processes for transformation and change. Today, such technologies have become deeply embedded into the socio-economic fabric of our society, and the role of e-Governance is gaining momentum as system that empowers the common man through sustainable development and seamless availability of critical services. The Government of Uttar Pradesh recognises that e- Governance is the best way of promoting inclusive growth in society. That is why e-Governance is being actively pursued in all government departments in the state. Under the present state government, e- Governance has already turned into a gigantic movement. The state of Uttar Pradesh has been taking several initiatives to improve the quality of governance through the use of IT. The core agenda of e-Uttar Pradesh is to facilitate exchange of knowledge on the subject of e- Governance. The practioners of e-Governance from all over the country will gather in Lucknow for two day and shed light on the ways by which they see the IT being a key and inseparable part of the ‘present we have.’ The event will lead to a greater acknowledgement of the ubiquitous role that IT are playing our society, from the way in which we communicate, network and interact, to the way in which we learn, play, conduct business or access government services. As large number of private companies, which are involved in doing cutting edge work in the area of e- Governance, will also be participating, the government officials and ministers will have the chance of exploring the opportunities and benefits offered by broadband and IT in the context of sustainable development. Thus the e-Uttar Pradesh will contribute t the event contribute to the creation of more awareness and understanding.
