About Conference

digitalLEARNING World Education Summit, organised annually since 2011, is the world’s premier platform on education for everyone who is passionate about education and learning. Over the years, it has become the largest gathering of education leaders from across the globe. WES aims to make the summit more than an event by building a strong community around it and by providing various business and networking opportunities for clients, partners and students. The dynamics of the education sector is evolving rapidly the world over and WES provides an opportunity to all stakeholders to come together and deliberate, discuss and explore the new horizons. We at WES believe that such linkage will bring a win-win situation, not only to the industry and educational institutions, but to the whole world. The twenty-first century is the ‘century of knowledge’. Therefore, innovation and optimal deployment of scarce resources to make education more relevant and to achieve excellence in research become the goal of governments and education hubs across the globe. Continuing with its commitment to bring the thought leaders from across the world on a platform, digitalLEARNING Magazine is organising the 3 rd edition of WES on 23rd-24th April, 2013, at Le Méridien, New Delhi.

There will be three parallel tracks on:

  • Skill Development and Vocational Education

The summit will be marked by conferences, exhibitions, workshops and an award ceremony. It will provide a wonderful opportunity to stakeholders in the field of education, all over the world, to create opportunities of progress at all levels, namely – global, national, and regional. The summit is being organised by Elets Technomedia Pvt Ltd. Organisations such as the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India; All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE); United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO); Directorate General of Employment and Training (DGET); the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India; National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT); and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) have been key partners in the World Education Summit since its inception.

Components of the Summit

There will be three parallel tracks on School Education, Higher Education, and Skill Development & Vocational Education. The summit will be marked by conferences, exhibitions, workshops and an award ceremony. It will provide a wonderful opportunity to stakeholders in the field of education, all over the world, to create opportunities of progress at all levels, namely – global, national and regional.

Conference:

Education leaders, policy makers and the education industry from across the globe will deliberate, discuss and explore new horizons under the three-key theme:

Workshops at WES 2013 will have Intensive and focused sessions to deliberate on pertinent issues and provide solutions to key challenges in the education sector across the globe.

There has been a lot of progress in the education sector across the globe. Exhibition is the best way to demonstrate the various innovations and achievements. The two-day Exhibition will attract more than 1,00 companies, government bodies and educational institutes. The exhibition, running parallel with the conference, shall put the spotlight on education sector. WES 2013 shall offer ample space to edupreneurs – global or national – to showcase their education technologies, new ideas & innovation, and best teaching -learning practices.

Vocational Training: Enhancing Employability Skills of the Youth: Role of Vocational TrainingVocational Education and Training (VET) is an important element of the nation’s education initiative. Union Budget 2013 declared that one million students may be provided Rs.10, 000 each on completing skill training courses. The vocational institutes affiliated to the State Council of Vocational Training have been added to negative list of service tax making the courses affordable for the youth.National Skill Development  Corporation (NSDC) that came into existence as a part of a national skill development mission aims to achieve about 30 per cent of the overall target of delivering skills to 500 million people in India by 2022 through private sector intervention in skill  development programmes and funding.AICTE too have widened their focus on skill development through vocational training as a part of their agenda.In order for Vocational Education to play its part effectively in the changing national context and for India to enjoy the fruits of the demographic dividend, there is an urgent need to redefine the critical elements of imparting vocational education and training to make them flexible, contemporary, relevant, inclusive and creative.Session Highlights
