Himalaya-‘Abode of Gods’ is the pride of India. It is a unique ecosystem characterized distinctly with its rich repository of biodiversity and colourful shades of landscapes and cultures. At the same time, the Himalayan Rivers have played an important role for the settlement growth and contributed to the economic development of the region. But there are challenges also especially when it comes to maintaining the ecological balance, ensuring waste management, rejuvenation of some rivers flowing through Himalayas, countering impact of climate change, deforestation leading to biodiversity loss, etc. Indian Himalayan Region (IHR) is spread across 10 states and Uttarakhand is one of them which is blessed with the beautiful Himalayas. But the sensitive and fragile Himalayan ecosystem is facing the threats of unscientific development, climate change, deforestation, loss of biodiversity, dying rivers and Uttarakhand is no exception. Condition of River Kosi is one such example and it needs immediate attention to be rejuvenated.
Realising the importance of this, ‘Almora District Administration, Government of Uttarakhand,’ as the ‘Host Partner’ is organising one of its kind ‘Environment Summit’ in Almora, Uttarakhand on 20 October 2018 with a special focus on Kosi River Rejuvenation. ‘Elets Technomedia Pvt Ltd,’ Asia & Middle East’s premier media & technology organization is part of this unique summit as ‘Organiser.’
